What Is Apologetics?

Apologetics comes from the Greek word “Apologia” (ἀπολογία) which means “to give a defence” as in a court of law. This doesn’t necessarily imply that we are defensive about our Christian faith; rather,   we seek to make a case for the reasonableness of our faith. The Bible speaks about this in 1 Peter 3:15 when it says “In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defence to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you…” Apologetics seeks to give a rational argument & answer questions/objections to the Christian faith. Some of these include: Is there a God? Why does God allow suffering? What is the meaning of life? How do we know the Bible is reliable? Did Jesus rise from the dead? and many more.

Mission & Purpose

The mission of Apologetics.com is: “Challenging believers to think and thinkers to believe.” Christian apologetics is useful for equipping Christians in the church to love God with all their mind (Matthew 22:37) as well as share their faith with non-Christians through evangelism. Christian apologetics can also challenge non-Christians to consider the Christian worldview as reasonable faith. As C.S. Lewis says: “One must keep on pointing out that Christianity is a statement which, if false, is of no importance, and, if true, of infinite importance. The one thing it cannot be is moderately important.” If you wish to give to our mission & purpose, please visit this page. All financial gifts are tax-deductible and secure.
